Historically Black Colleges and Universities with Education Programs
        Historically Black Colleges and Universities

There is perhaps no greater building block of society than education. Education gives people the knowledge and confidence they need to pursue their dreams, make a life for themselves and make a difference. These are some of the foundational values on which historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the United States were founded. The struggle for independence, respect and freedom led to the establishment of colleges with the specific mission to provide educational opportunities for blacks after the Civil War, and they are still an important part of America's postsecondary system today.

There are over 100 historically black colleges and universities in the United States today, including public and private, four- and two-year institutions. Admission to these colleges is open to all, but many HBCUs continue to emphasize programs focused on the needs of traditionally underrepresented students. Committed strongly to the social importance of education and its ability to help build strong and healthy communities, HBCUs therefore offer undergraduate programs in teacher education with a variety of specialization options.

So if you're looking for a world-class teacher education program grounded in core values like inclusiveness, scholarship, diversity, leadership, and service, be sure to search out the historically black colleges and universities with education programs in the USA.
